It actually gets used two ways:  You don't notice or see some things that you normally would have if you hadn't been in love with the person.  For example, you may not notice your loved one is being sarcastic to you or has certain faults because your love for that person blinds you.

Or, if you love someone, the things that you were picky about before - like hair color or weight - you don't see those things because you love that person.

Have you ever been in love with someone and then break up and a few months later that person looks totally different to you appearance-wise?  That's the phenomenon ;)

It means basically that love can hide a lot of problems. For example, when a man is abusive to his wife (or vice versa) they still love them and can not see that what they are doing is wrong.

It can also mean that love can cloud your judgement (make you do things you wouldn't normally do).

It's about gradually seeing past a person's appearance and finding you like their personality, or wit, the way they show that they care about you and others. Haven't you ever had that happen?
