Ive got a Taylormade r7 TP 3 wood, and the TP shaft, I love the feel and control i get with that shaft. Can I use that same model shaft for my driver, or do the specs need to change to accommodate the bigger driver head?

  1. If you like the weight and performance of that fairway shaft you may like it in your driver too. Just keep in mind the lower lofted, lighter driver head likely won't launch as high with a shaft designed for a fairway head. Try to check your launch conditions before you make the leap, if you make a nice level impact you may not want higher launch conditions. There's no simple answer here, you have to hit it to find out.

I can tell you I use an 80 gram hybrid shaft in my driver, and for me at least, it helps avoid ballooning my drive. That way I can be more aggressive. If I wanted a higher flight, I'd probably go with a lighter shaft.

  2. Sure you can.  You might even get TM to make the change for you.  I'd try contacting them first.
