Lovebird and Nasal Discharge?

I woke up this morning to find that my one of my lovebirds nostrils on the left side was clearly defines and there was a dark stain mark as if she had stuck her face in water but its a very small area strictly below one nostril. I'm planning on taking him to the vet for a checkup to make sure everything is ok but i was just curious as to what it is. He had just woken up i think so im not sure if he put his head in his drinking bowl but that would be unlikely since he only got the area around his one nostril wet.

  1. May have a cold and that is discharge from his nare which warrents vet visit. May have vomited and got some stuck there. Sometimes they vomit for the mate or may be sick. Is there any sticky food sticks or treats in cage? Is it  dry blood? Well, taking to vets is best idea safe is always better than sorry. Good luck to you and the little lovebird.

  2. Your bird could have a Chill,if it has been in a draught,or it has taken a drink and the water has come back through it's nostril.

If you are worried then get to an avian vet.
