Question:

Low Blood Pressure problem?

My blood pressure falls from normal or above normal to below normal immediately following breakfast. I get dissy and loose energy quickly. I recover in about three hours. I read that carbohydrates cause this, but eggs also have the same effect.

I do not have this cause/effect at or after dinner. Any suggestions?

  1. SYMPTOMS OF LOW BLOOD PRESSURE

The most common symptoms of low blood pressure are dizziness or lightheadedness, lethargy, lack of stamina, inability to concentrate on some external object, ringing in the ears, tingling in the fingers and toes. If low blood pressure is not corrected, it can lead to fainting, falls and potentially serious injury.

  2. i don't agree that carbohydrates reduce BP...

eat rich diet fruits and proteins... if you are not a diabetic...

  3. There is a condition called postprandial hypotension.  Where your blood pressure drops after you eat.  It is more common in older adults.  You didn't state your age, so I don't know if this is something more than this.

You seem to be on the right track by recognizing that carbs are affecting it.  When someone has this, the recommendation is to eat a number of small meals throughout the day and decrease the carb intake.

I would talk to a doctor about this, especially if you are under the age of 65, the sooner, the better - as it could be something else entirely.

BTW, how do you know your blood pressure is dropping.
