Question:

Low Flow Toilet question?

Is there a way to use just a bit more water to flush, or should I just go with the double flush? We just installed a brand new toilet, and it pretty much empties the entire thing out, but there's still occasional floaters that don't get sucked in the first round. Thanks.

  1. a few things to check first:

make sure the water in the tank is up to the recommended "fill line"

you can buy a more buoyant flapper which will take longer to close.

finally you can try holding the handle down...

  2. Yeah the old double flush routine is still required, even though the, so called, "experts" claim that the new low flush toilets work perfect on one flush. The government and the "Green" folks didn't do us any favors or save us any water with these. I have one old toilet that flushes one time every time and a low flow that requires a flush after the dump and another one after the paper or it'll stop up every time.

  3. You can buy adjustable flappers for this problem that go inside the tank this will allow more water to go thru the bowl when flushed.

These can be purchased at most Menards or home depot stores just tell them what you want (adjustable flapper)

  4. Hold the flush handle down until the water is out of the bowl.

Try it, doesn't cost anything and it works on mine.
