Hi there. I went in for pregnancy test at doctors office on cycle day 28. It came back very faint. They sent me to have blood hcg test done. It came back at 29. They told me it was borderline and I needed to be tested in 48 hours. Therefore I went back on cycle day 30 and it was 86. They finally said that I was indeed pregnant!!! Yay, however I Have read that those numbers are really low and I should be worried about miscarriage. Is that true? Any input would be great. Thanks.

  1. Your levels are fine you have an early pregnancy mine were 21 on Monday 49 on Wednesday and today they are 139 so as long as they double every 48 to 72 hours you will be fine.

I also questioned the low levels on mine,i had a scan and the doc told me even though my period was on the 22nd of June i ovulated 3 weeks after that making me 3 weeks pregnant instead of 5 nearly if you count back to the 22nd i should be 5 weeks nearly but I'm not because i must of ovulated later,

  2. The average HCG level on the day your period is due (CD 28) is 40.  AVERAGE means there are those that are above and below.

Your level was below average, but still within a normal range.  What is more important is not what the actual numbes were, but that they doubled which is a sign that the pregnancy is progressing.  In fact, they expect HCG levels to double within 48 hours, and yours more than doubled in less than that amount of time.

If you were just a day less than you thought, it would make a big difference.  I do not think you should be overly concerned about miscarriage.  Congratulations!

  3. Your levels should just about double every 24-48 hours so it looks good to me.  You are just very early so the numbers are still low.
