Low Juan Shen, Tan Yip Juin continue their unbeatable run in 2012 National Circuit Grand Prix Finals
Men’s Doubles experts Low Juan Shen and Tan Yip Juin remained invincible in their second group match of Maybank National Circuit Grand Prix Finals and stamped Calvin Ong Jia Hong-Tan Wee Gieen on December 27, 2012.
This Group B match was played at local badminton complex of Alor Setar, Malaysia and both native teams challenged each other in all areas of game while piling up decisive figures of 24-22 and 21-12.
However, the twosome of Low Juan and Tan Yip proved its supremacy tactically and technically by sealing a straight-set victory.
Though, they had a sluggish start in the opening game but they gathered some pace when it was needed the most. They left their challengers far behind with a minor but decisive lead in the final margin.
Initially, Ong Jia Hong and Tan Wee were in commanding position but then few back-to-back mistakes brought them down.
Meanwhile, the opposing team made a swift progress on the points table and tipped the scale in its favour.
Low Juan and Tan Yip finished first half of the set with a three-point deficit but they managed to come out of their competitors’ influence after the interval.
They played with right attitude and fortitude in latter part of the game and finished this set with a convincing score.
Both pairs were equal until 21-21 but then Low Juan-Tan Yip managed to surpass their challengers with 24-22 total.
This splendid win boosted their confidence and they played with great precision in the following game.
Both Malaysian shuttlers did not show any sign of confusion and confounded their opponents with an unbeatable strategy.
At first, they mounted pressure by prevailing in five consecutive rallies and the magnified the impact by adding many valuable points in their total.
Low Juan and Tan Yip got into commanding position with an unassailable lead before the half time and capitalised their dominance after the one-minute break.
They strengthened their grip by placing a convincing margin of 17-8 in third quarter of the set and then wrapped this showdown with an overwhelming score of 21-12.
With such an impressive triumph, they setup their next encounter with another Malaysian couple Chooi Kah Ming-Ow Yao Han.
