Low Wood Gift secures 1st position at Belle Vue - Greyhound Racing Update
Trained by H Adamson, Low Wood Gift, sealed the first spot in a 590m Greyhound Open Race, held at Belle Vue on January 5, 2012.
It was a nail-biting contest, as Low Wood Gift won the race by a tiny margin of one second. He finished one second ahead of, Starmount Swift, the favourite greyhound to win the race at the start of the race.
Low Wood Gift’s starting price was 3 to 1, and he started the show from Trap number three. The winning dog covered the distance in 35.71 seconds, scooping the prize money of £150.
Starmount Swift’s trainer K A Harris might be disappointed, as his b***h came agonizingly close to winning the race, but got beat by a mere second’s margin.
She was the favourite to win the title, as her starting price was 7 to 4. Starting the heat from Trap number one, the daughter of Westmead Diver out of Jumeirah Sheba, crossed the finish line in 35.72 second and sealed the second position.
The third position belonged to Swift Ronaldo, who covered the distance of 590 meters in 35.76, only four seconds behind, Starmount Swift.
With a starting price of 7 to 2, B Heaton’s trainee started off the race from trap number 5. Swift Ronaldo was perhaps one of the least favourite candidates, but he impressed the audience with his real fire.
He was followed by Black Dazzlem, who finished the race in fourth position. With a starting price of 8 to 1, M J Siddall’s greyhound broke from trap number six before the race started. However, by covering the distance in 35.93 seconds, Black Dazzlem
provided his trainer something to be proud of.
The fifth and sixth positions were locked by, Bower Eagle, and, Cashen Shelly, respectively. The latter commenced the show with starting price of 8 to 1 while Brower Eagle’s price was 7 to 2 before the traps opened.
Bower Eagle finishing time was 36.05 seconds while Cashen Shelly crossed the line in 36.28 seconds, and they were well behind the champion, Low Wood Gift.
With a win in a nerve-wrecking race, Low Wood Gift had definitely registered his name as one of the favourites for the upcoming races.
