Question:

Low blood sugar making you not see??

I have low-blood sugar frequently and recently when it happens, I start getting these spinning like things in my eyes. It's almost like when you look outside and it's really bright, how the dots from the sun in your eyes make you have to squint if you're trying to look at something for the next few minutes. The best way I can describe this is kaleidoscopes in my eyes, making it almost impossible to even see when this is happening. It's like something spinning, blocking my vision. And at the same time being disoriented and zombie-like. I'm really worried, this is scaring me. Is this normal and has anyone else experienced this? If so, what causes it? I'm getting a dr. appointment soon, but I was just curious if someone knew anything about it. I've had this happen like 5 times in the past month, which is way too many...

  1. when i get low blood sugars, first i cannot see straight and then depending on how low my blood sugar gets i start to see weird things. i dont get migranes afterwards however.

  2. take less meds.  eat regular meals.  keep a granola bar handy.

  3. It's absolutely classic Migraine. (Doesn't have to be headaches).

You'll see the patterns and vivid colours if you Google it, or look it up in Wikipedia.

Disturbing, but honestly, nothing much serious to worry about.

Except of course, it's a  SYMPTOM, not a malady in itself.. Your doctor should make every effort to find the cause, the malady, if possible, and not just treat the symptoms.

EDIT: No, it won't harm your eyes.  But you can mitigate the effects by wearing U/V coated glasses
