  1. Sophie , i would try to find a professional to talk to , it worked for my sister , but you are not alone i have been going thru the same thing for 35 yrs. ( maybe i will take my own advice)

  2. If you're 33 and you've always been a shy girl, you are NEVER going to be a super confident, life of the party, type of girl, but, but, you can change yourself enough to be a normal confident.

Try going up to guys you don't really like and asking them out. (I know this sounds kind of mean but its for a better cause) That way, if they turn you down, or laugh in your face, you can laugh back.

There's lots of other ways of being more confident but you manly have to change your state of mind and find out why you are so insecure and shy.

  3. To become more confident, you have to challenge yourself a little.  You have to try new things, go new places, meet new people.  When you know you can do something, then you gain in confidence.  It's just a matter of experience.  You don't have to like everything, you just need to try it.  Soon you'll have more of an "I can do that" attitude, you'll feel better and people will notice.  Don't put much (if any) emotional weight into whether things turn out wonderfully or not.  After all, you're just trying things out to see if it works or not, sort of like the way a scientist tests a theory.  You can do this, I know.

  4. Google a short piece called Desiderata. It is all in there.

    Good luck and enjoy! UK
