Question:

Low fps in WoW with HD3850?

My rig is:

Intel Pentium D 2.8GHz (I believe i'm not that much CPU limited)

2Gb DDRII RAM

Sapphire HD3850 512Mb video card running latest catalyst 8.8

The problem is that i'm able to max out every single game i play, but i get fps drops when maxing out WoW. It's like 15 to 25fps when there are 5-7 players around me and like 55-60fps when i'm alone staring on the ground. The only way i'm able to get higher and stable frame rates if turning terrain distance down to zero, but playing so is no point 'coz u cant see whats happening around you, 'coz u're in the fog that limits your sight to see things around.

I believe i must have 60 constant fps with such a card, 'coz WoW is not that CPU intense game.

I'm even able to play Crysis with 30-35 fps @1280x1024 everything set to high except vsync and aa + af are off.

What might be the problem?

P.S.

I'm on Windows XP SP2 with the latest chipset drivers installed and my motherboard is Intel Grand County 2 D102GGC2.

Thanx in advance.

  2. Could be your internet connection

Especially since your performance goes bad when you are near other people, which is where an Internet connection is critical
