Low income housing help plz?

i soon am turning 18 yrs old on thursday to be exact. we have a baby that is 5 months old and we would really like to get our own place. were not in a hurry r n e thing but we would like 2 move out. it is probably going to be a long time b4 we do bt i have been looking at the possibility of moving into a low income apartment wat would be the first step in doing this? i do have a job not a good 1 to be honest but i make about 12000 a year. can anyone help plz? does anyone have any information or advice to help us out? by the way i live in colorado and i pay 500 dollars to bills every month so i only have about 500 left
