In permeable bags where 10 ml of 20% sucrose and 10 ml of 40% sucrose are suspended in water, how is it that the mass increases, but not decreases?

  1. Since the 20% an 40% have "less water molecules" than the surrounding water bath, then water travels from high concentration to low concentration, which increaes the weight of both bags.

    good luck.
