Can you give me some tips on shopping at Trader Joe's for some low point (on the weight watcher's program) foods? Naturally, I know about fruit and veggies, but besides the produce, what are your favorite snacks and foods that are sold at trader joe's which are very low ww points? Thank you!!

  1. 1)  Get some of their whole wheat couscous and cook it in some chicken broth.  Saute some mushrooms, broccoli and shrimp and put it over the grains.  High fiber, low points.

    2)  TJ also has a frozen packaged shrimp stir fry that supposedly has something like 3 servings, but given it's all veggies and shrimp, you can eat the whole bag once cooked for only 3-4 points.

  2. misty,

My wife and I follow weight watchers.

I am a chef and author of a cookbook.

here is how I calculate calories the easy way.

    50 calories = 1 point.

keep it simple and it will be easier.

If you go to my web page I send out recipes monthly. some recipes have weight watcher points.

  3. Here are some of my favorites:

Frozen food section----Chicken Chili Lime Burgers or Southwest Turkey Burgers, chicken ChowMein, Chili Verde in a Pouch, frozen fresh pineapple tidbits.

They have very good Hummus in the refrigerated section.

Salad Dressings----They are in the refrigerated section near the salad items.  Cilantro Dressing and Champagne Pear Vinigrette.

As for crackers try these----SAVORY Thin Mini Crackers.  I love them in the Hummus.

There are many other things that are good but those are my foods to always have on hand for WW.      Good Luck!!
