Low-scoring games provide for good contests, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shaun-Maclean-Pollock-c89847 – Cricket News Update
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Indians' mentor and bowling coach, Shaun Pollock, feels that the low-scoring IPL games provide for good contests, as the defending side tries to come hard and producing attacking bowling.
Speaking to media reporters ahead of Mumbai’s match against the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 Royals at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday, the 38-year-old former South African said that the low-scoring games bring the best out of the defenders, as well as the chasers, as both
sides are not sure how to go ahead.
"...teams are becoming cleverer as the tournament unfolds. Over the years, people have got the understanding what is required from a bowling perspective and you don't often see those big scores as it used to be in the past,” said Pollock speaking to media
at the pre-match press conference in Mumbai on Tuesday.
“I think often the small totals make for great games because you are not 100 per cent sure how you should go hard up front or pace yourselves, keep wickets in hand,” he added further.
In their previous game against the Deccan Chargers, Mumbai Indians prevailed in a last ball-thriller courtesy http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RG-Sharma-c2309, who plundered a six on the final delivery of the match, to script an emphatic five-wicket win. While chasing a mediocre total of 138
set by the tourists, Mumbai looked almost out of the game with 18 runs required of the final over. But Rohit Sharma’s lofty sixes coupled with Franklin’s boundary in Daniel Christian’s final over saw the hosts home.
Rajasthan Royals’ spinner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/George-Bradley-Hogg-c59047 however, feels that the nature of pitches used in the IPL5 so far are preventing the teams from putting mammoth totals on the board.
“The wickets have been very slow or two-faced,” said Hogg ahead of his side’s maiden away match of the season against Mumbai. “...it comes to the nature of the wicket it will be interesting to see what kind of wicket we get in Mumbai,” he added further.
Having won both of their games so far, the Rajasthan Royals sit at the top of points table while Mumbai Indians are currently second with two wins in three games. A victory tonight will allow the hosts to dethrone Royals as the table http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Thomas-Donald-Topley-c93395.
