The German Football Association reiterated their desire to stick with Joachim Low regardless of his team’s performance in Euro 2012.
The German head-coach received a much needed boost from the German FA after a string of bad performances from his side. Die Mannschaft were beaten 5-3 and 2-1 by Switzerland and France respectively in the two international friendlies
played recently. The performances were a far cry from the efficient German football.
Despite these losses many still consider Germany as favorites to win the tournament and the DFB is confident of their team’s progression from the 'Group of Death’.
Matthias Sammer, German FA’s technical director, lauded his manager’s ability and his achievements with the team.
"The outcome surely could not be so catastrophic that the high-quality job that Jogi has done over such a long period of time can be seen in a different light without success at the European Championships," he was quoted as saying
in an interview.
Although Sammer is confident that the team will progress but he also stated that he’ll stick with his manager in event of failure. The chief insisted that the tactician has had huge impact on the side in recent years and he will
be given time in case the team returns unsuccesful.
"In the event of that happening, we would just have to go through a difficult phase with this national team coach." he added.
Low assumed control of the German national side in 2006 when Jurgen Klinsmann resigned from his post. During this spell he transformed Germany into a side capable of playing some eye catching football capable of beating any side
in the world.
He guided Germany to the Euro 2008 final where they were narrowly defeated by Spain, followed by a third place finish in the World Cup 2010 in South Africa.
The Germans intend to wipe away all the memories from Euro 2008, and their progression depends on their performances in the ‘Group of Death’,where they are placed alongside European heavyweights Portugal, Netherlands and Denmark.
Despite being in an intimidating group Germany will be unfazed and will look to cement their place in Europe’s elite by winning the Euro 2012 and are neutrals’ favorites to clinch the title.
