I have been having pain in my back for quite a while. It is worse the morning after exercise. I feel i cant get out of bed some mornings. I also ofen have difficulty getting in and out of the car, sitting down, putting on socks...all bending over type movements.

What can i do to fix it?

I already do a lot of core stability exercises but no joy!

  1. Use a deep heat spray or gel.

  2. You don't say how old you or how long you've had the problem. My first worry is exactly how much exercise you are doing and what type and for how long.

    On reflection, considering what you say above, I'd seriously consider seeing one of the following;

    1, Your GP

    2, A physiotherapist,

    3, A State registered Osteopath

  3. You may already do this but You should be sure to stretch after exercise, before bed, and when you get up in the morning.  This helps me some.  If it doesn't improve, I'd see a doctor.  It may be something more serious than just your muscles.

  4. See a GOOD chiropractor.  I have had several over the years and a good one can work miracles.  Talk to your friends and coworkers and see who they recommend.  I usually get a monthly adjustment and a few if I've done something less than smart.  Most insurance plans now cover chiropractic.  I've been in your shoes and a few visits can make a huge difference.

  5. see a chiropractor

  6. just a thought im no doctor by far lmao but if its bad in the morning (i know u said after excercise but have u tried no excercise to see if it still gives you pain?) if its mostly morning then eases off as the day goes on then could it be that u need a firmer mattress? orthopedic one? or if thats not an option due to funds try turning your mattress and placeing a firm board under where u sleep for extra support?? i know this helped when i was pregnant and suffered lower back ache even from sitting on the sofa in a curved posistion for a period of time!!! just a thought altho may be completely different as i also had bouts of pins and needles from lying and sitting in slouched or curved positions! i would see a doctor to rule out anythin medical if nothin helps! best wishes!

  7. I wish that you had stated exactly what core stabilization movements are being done.  While you are strengthening the muscles you may not be attacking the one that is weak.  The abdominals are not the entire core package but without knowing what you are doing it is impossible to say what further needs to be done.  There is one muscle group that is usually neglected and needs work, transverse abdominals.  You can do all of the sit ups and crunches that you want and they will not hit this group.  If you are familiar with yoga then try doing the Plank.  This will target that muscle.  Also if that position is too difficult for you modify it.  Instead of being on the toes start off on your knees.  Work up to one minute for this exercise.  Another movement that should help the lower back is this.  Stand up straight and have the feet spread about four to six inches apart.  Bend the hips and knees to about these positions, the knees to around forty-five degrees and the hips at ninety degrees.  Let the arms hang down from the shoulders.  Slowly bring the upper body up and few inches and then bring it down again.  Continue this rocking movement until you are able to reach fifty.  If there is any pain other than a little soreness when you are doing the movement stop immediately.  As you get stronger place a one or two pound weight in the hands and do the movement.  This will significantly strengthen the transverse abdominals, gluteals, quads, hamstrings, and lower back muscles.  Make sure that you are also doing a stretching program.  It would also benefit you to see a physical therapist to have them work with you on posture and exercises.

  8. I have had the same thing for two months after shovelling some earth out of a hole into a barrow and forgetting how old I am.

    Find a physiotherapist on Yellow Pages and book an appointment.  You will then be told precisely what bit of the vertebrae is out of kilter and what exercises you need to do to put it straight.

    Otherwise try massaging in some arnica to bring down the swelling and get away from the computer for a while and go for a walk or a swim to loosen it up and lubricate the joints.

    Also look at your bed.  If the mattress is too soft, then either get a harder mattress or sleep for a while on the floor.

  9. try lying supine then raise your legs high with knees straight.if it hurts then probably it is sciatica or disc herniation.(the disc is the one in between each vertebra and serves as a cushion). can you easily change your position while lying on a bed?if not, then it is probably a disc problem.see a doctor.usually, with sciatica, if it gets worst, an operation is needed so is with disc problem.the conservative means of treating lower back pains are rest, hot packs on the painful area and pain relievers.but better check a doctor to make sure because another possible cause of lower back pain is UTI (urinary track infection).
