Question:

Lower back pain while wakeboarding?

I have been wakeboarding a few times and every time I notice that I get a sharp pain in my lower back on my back-foot side. I usually have my arms straight out and my stance is left-foot first. Is something with my stance causing the pain? I really like wakeboarding but I can't stay more than 5-6 min up before the pain starts to get to be too much. Any advice is much appreciated.

  1. Your stance is probably not that bad, do you board often? The more you board the stronger your back will get and it won't hurt as much.

  2. try lowering the handle to hip level and stick your shoulders back. push down on the handle. a better posture should take the pressure off. if you have your hands too high the natural back position will be bent.

  3. Well I know that while I go wakeboarding I never get back pains just hand pains from tryin to hold on to the rope! But if it's bothering you I would try switching feet. put your back foot in the front and see how that works. Also, do you biff it a lot? Because that can have something to do with it too :D that's all I got!
