Lower back strain by Atlanta Braves’ Tommy Hanson leads to 15-days disabled list - MLB Update
In light of the fact that the Atlanta Braves searched for starting pitchers before the trade deadline to strengthen their depleted rotation, the injury by the right-hander Tommy Hanson is a big blow to the team's expedition in the season.
The lower back pain has been troubling the starter in the last many weeks, but due to the stop-gap measures he used, he was able to eschew the injury from taking its toll on his actions.
However, right now he has been put on the 15-days disabled list.
Currently holding the second position on the National League East Division table, only hurdle the Atlanta Braves potentially can be undone by is the inconsistency of their starters. For the same reason, the team officials are h**l-bent to fix issues with
the rotation before they begin playing crucial games of the season.
Earlier in the season, the Braves’ quest was inhibited by an injury of their starting pitcher Brandon Beachy. For as long as Beachy played in the season, he was the most successful starter in the whole of National League in terms of ERA.
Therefore, his injury had kind of triggered panic among the management and the search for a quality replacement had started as a result.
Meanwhile, Hanson points out the significance of resting his body before it becomes too late. He has talked of the underlying fear that has motivated them to send him on the disabled list.
“I think if I would have just had a couple days extra this time it would have been fine,” Hanson said. “But it’s better to take care of it now and then not have to worry about it the rest of the year. I think that’s the whole idea behind it.”
Meanwhile, there is a positive development for the Braves, which says that the injury is not severe and that within few days the pitcher can start feeling better.
Hanson has also confirmed that it is not going to take a long time for him to recover.
“I think we might have just came back too quick,” said Hanson. “I don’t think it’s going to be something that’s going to take a while. I just need to let it chill out and it should be fine.”
Meanwhile, the Braves will be hoping that Hanson's replacement turns out to be reliable and does not derail their momentum presently gained by them in the season.
