Question:

Lower right back pain?

I have had back pain for about 2 years now. Sometimes it goes away, but sometimes it is here for a few weeks at a time. My hips pop (like knuckles? i guess) when i walk sometimes.. a lot of the time actually, and sometimes they go out of joint..Could this have something to do with it? The pain feels like it is inbetween bones (like if a peice of bone chipped off and was cutting into you, or someone pinching you on the inside.) Im laying down right now and the pain doesnt feel as bad as when I am standing, sitting or walking, but it also feels like my lower back could be out of joint? No pain relievers (advil, tylenol, etc.) help relieve the pain. I went to the doctor over this, but he didnt find anything wrong. Im also only 17 years old.

help? =]

  1. The popping in your hip has everything to do with it. It's called a subluxation, and that's not good. The only one who can fix a subluxation of this type is a chiropractor.

  2. The popping out of your hip is the most likely source. You basically are slamming the head of the hip into the acetabulum (the spot where the femur and pelvis meet) This alone can cause inflammation, pain, and degenerative changes. You could get very tiny bone fragments in that area that don't show up on x-rays. When you stand, all of your weight is on that area so it will increase pain. Take tylenol or aleve, and you need to begin exercises your hip muscle (flexors, abductors, adductors, and extensors) to prevent the joint from popping out. Get with a physical therapist or just google hip strengthening exercises and start with those, but only after you beging knocking out the inflammation. You also could have some SI joint instability. A physical therapist or a chiropractor could adjust this for you
