  1. We should raise the driving age and lower the drinking age.

In the meantime, use a bike.

  2. The driving age will never go down. If you are under 18, you are not an adult and do not have a say or the right to protest the legal driving age.

The driving age should go up to 18. Driving is a privilege, not a right!

  3. If you are in the US, why in the world would you want to lower it?  I agree with the other poster, it should be raised.  Teenagers are extremely immature these days, much more so than previous generations.  They think driving is a right, and it isn't.  Driving is a privilege, it has to be learned and earned.  Most get in a car, and show off, drive like idiots, yak on the cell phones, etc.  I am a part time EMT, and you wouldn't believe some of the wrecks I have seen with teenage drivers.  The last one was a teenage girl on her way to a party at 11pm, she decided she was going to change her clothes while doing 60mph, she wrecked, was ejected and decapitated, 16 and dead.

Trust me, kids don't need their license any younger.

  4. the driving age should be raised if anything.

  5. <<<<<<<<18>>>>>>>>>

Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among 15- to 20-year olds.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, 3,490 drivers in this age group died in motor vehicle crashes in 2006 and an additional 272,000 were injured.

Drivers age 15- to 20-years old accounted for 12.9 percent of all the drivers involved in fatal crashes and 16 percent of all the drivers involved in police-reported crashes.

Twenty-five percent of teen drivers killed were intoxicated. In 2002 (latest data available) the estimated economic cost of police-reported crashes involving drivers between the ages of 15 and 20 was $40.8 billion, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Among licensed drivers, young people between the ages of 15 and 20 have the highest rate of fatal crashes relative to other age groups, including the elderly. In fact, the risk of being involved in a fatal crash for teens is three times greater than for drivers age 65 to 69.

Immaturity and lack of driving experience are the two main factors leading to the high crash rate among teens.

  6. you can write to your state government.

however, i doubt this would ever happen.  most states are currently raising the driving age.  in new jersey it's now 18.

  7. Lowering the driving age are you insane.. how about lowering the drinking age and raise the driving age both to 18.  then your first day you can drive you can drive to the bar, get plastered, the attempt to drive home, lose your lisense for DUI for 3 years and now your at 21, without a license and a full blown alcoholic.

  8. lowered?

    wtf?

    it should be raised

and it already is in cali

to 18 if u were born after 91'

  9. Are you crazy? The driving age should be raised not lowered.

  10. I agree.  The driving age is too low (too young).  I started driving when I was 16 years + 1 day.  Now I'm 45 I wonder WTF was my mother and father thinking?

But then again, younger people learn better (faster).  My brother and sisters didn't learn till they were in their late twenties and it was difficult for them.

Maybe they should LEARN to drive in the teens, but still be limited with junior status longer.

    Good Luck.

  11. your maybe 13 or 14 and want yours bad but no it should not be..

  12. Do research on the states that allow 14-year-olds to drive and why to make a persuasive argument..  The Dakotas, Iowa, etc.

  13. Around from where I'm from. Their talking bout raising the age limit to drive and have a license, due to death rate of teen drivers, to around 20!!!!!

  14. The minimum driving age in any state is established by the state legislature or state assembly. So, you would start by contacting the representatives that represent the district where you live. Good luck. You're wasting your time. If anything the driving age should be raised to at least 18.
