  1. yeah, just make sure to do the pre-season training that is provided. This will make sure you are in shape. If you run distance for track I would also suggest running cross country.

  2. depends on how much time you have to train for it, in my opinion no, you won't get down to a 6 min. mile by then, but who says you need to be at that by the time track starts

it took me almost the entire season this past year to go from a 5:20 to a 4:59, so just make sure to keep running and trust me your time will drop

  3. Honestly, if you want to get anywhere close to that, just running a couple of times a week won't cut it.  You are going to need to try to run every day.  And I am not talking a couple of miles, you need to build up your endurance and create a base.  The easiest way to do that is to have a support group, such as a team.  If your school has a cross country team it would be a very good idea for you to join it in order to reach your goal.

  4. It is possible, but you really gotta work at it. Run a mile or two a couple of times every week. Try to stretch in the morning every day. You just really got to commit yourself to reahing your goal. Good Luck!

  5. I really hope you take me up on this! I am a semi-professional runner (I didnt make it to the olympics this year) and am currently in the process of building a website where runners give me their fitness information, and I give them a personal training program. It isnt up and running yet, but I'd like to get the idea out, so if you want to, you can email me all your fitness information (this isnt a scam, Im not making you give me any personal info) at personalfitnesstrainer011@yahoo.com and I'll Make you a free personal fitness program. I really hope you'll take me up on this offer b/c Once the website is up it wont be free anymore. I promise that if you try my program (which is based on the principals of the Lydiard system) you will reach a reasonable goal. And if you choose not to: Good Luck!

  6. I run the mile in track, and I do it in about 6mins to 6:30's too.

First off all I'm going to tell you not to get your hopes too high, I know it sounds rude, but if you are currently running a 10 minute mile, taking 4 minutes off sounds impossible, I bet you could get into a low 7, and from a ten minute to a low 7 would be a very good goal to accomplish.

but to do this you must be commited and run everyday. you should run about 2+ miles everyday to become good at the mile, it's a lot of work but the reward of finishing is great..

  7. yeah it might if you train hard enough.

keep training and be patient. = ]
