Loyal Master after making wonderful hurdle debut set to thrive in Ludlow’s Tanners Claret Juvenile Selling Hurdle
J. S. Moore’s 3-year-old, Loyal Master, ran a solid race when runner-up on his hurdling debut last month. After doing a wonderful job in a soft-ground claimer, the bay gelding is full of momentum, and a repeat of his Plumpton form will be enough to take
the first prize in Tanners Claret Juvenile Selling Hurdle, to be held at Ludlow on Wednesday, December 19th.
Bred by Castleton Lyons & Kilboy Estate, Loyal Master did nothing special early in the year. After facing a shameful loss in Warwick’s Selling Stakes, the son of Modigliani went to Plumpton, and made his debut on a high in this sphere.
In the Visit attheraces.com/jumps Juvenile Claiming Hurdle, the James Davies-ridden was always prominent. He chased the winner after the fifth hurdle, and led briefly next.
A massive mistake three hurdles before the wire hurt his cause badly. The 20-1 chance stayed on the same pace in the final stages and as a result, missed the first prize by three and a half lengths.
Loyal Master failed to create problems for Neil Mulholland’s winning horse, Pass The Time, but he collected great praise by beating the 11-10 favourite, Khazium, by seven lengths.
Having shown a great effort on his first start over hurdles, the Ron Hull-owned is flushed with pride. He just needs to be equally good to bag the top prize in today’s contest.
Half a dozen horses will try to stop him over a distance of two miles. The officials are due to kick off the class-4 meeting at 12:40 GMT. The cash prize for the victor is £2,599.
Khazium is being considered as the main danger to Loyal Master. The Claire Dyson-trained was rather disappointing when beaten favourite last time. Loyal Master defeated him comprehensively, and holds the edge.
Dalmo, who ran moderately on stable debut, deserves some respect on summer form. One For The Girls was awful on hurdle debut, and does not make any appeal whatsoever. Isobella was conveniently held on both starts over hurdles last month, and needs plenty
to play a role in this. Good luck to all the contestants.
