Lu Chien-Soon retains the lead at the Yeangder ADT after the third round
Taiwan’s Lu Chien-Soon held on to his lead with a third round 68 in the Yeangder ADT, at the National Garden Country Club, on Thursday, November 22, 2012.
The veteran Taiwanese star moved to a 19-under-par overall score to maintain the lead in the Asian Development Tour event.
Chien-Soon leads by five from Lin Wen-Tang, who earlier recorded a six-under par 66, which leaves him well-placed on 14-under for a Sunday assault.
Chan Yih-Shin and Brian Locke were further three strokes back to share the third position on the leaderboard.
Chien-Soon is in prime position to become the oldest winner on the Asian Development Tour – he is 52 years old – by maintaining his position on the top, till the end of the week.
Last week, he recorded a senior’s victory at his home soil and is now confident to add another title to his resume, in a bid to end the 2012 season on a high note.
Talking to the reporters after completing his round, he stated his plans to record at least a five-under par score in the final round.
“I think there’s no problem for me to win. I’m feeling very confident and this course suits my eye. My goal is to shoot five-under on the last day,” said Lu, winner of multiple titles in Asia during the 1980s.
He got off to a confident start and reached the turn in two-under. He then carded a birdie on the 13th hole, prior to losing a shot on the very next hole that he played.
Afterwards, he added another two shots to his scorecard by recording birdies on the 16th and the 18th hole. At the end of the day, he was way ahead of his rivals in the field.
“I seem very lucky on this course. If I get into trouble, I’ll save par. The birdies keep dropping for me and that keeps me going. I don’t feel tired especially in this breezy weather,” he added.
Wen-Tang, in the meantime, cheered his fans with a stunning display of the game at the National Garden Country Club. Throughout the day, the five-time Asian Tour winner did not miss a single fairway.
The Taiwanese, who is sponsored by the Yeangder Group, turned in 33 on the front nine. Thereafter, he kept the momentum going by carding a sparkling eagle on the 13th hole.
Talking to the Asiаn Development Tour’s official website, he expressed his wish of winning the title for his boss and the Group Chаirman of the Yeаngder Group, Emmet Hsu.
Hsu is a strong supporter of the Asian Tour and the Asian Development Tour, and the development of the game in Chinese Taipei.
“Emmet is a very good sponsor to all of us. I’ve always wanted to win an event sponsored by Yeangder,” Wen-Tang said.
