Lube Banca Marche MACERATA fails to move to final four of CEV as TRENTINO planetwin365 sweeps past
One semi final match of the 2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League- Men took place on March 1st in the Italian city of Trento.
The two teams that competed with each other for a final spot in the tournament were the home side of TRENTINO planetwin365 as well as Lube Banca Marche MACERATA.
It did not take long for the victor to emerge as the Italians were able to earn the ticket into the final of the championship by making a clean sweep over their opponents. The scoreboard showed the following final set scores: 25-18, 25-22 and 25-21.
The coach of the Italian side, Radostin Stoytchev, shared his views on the match at the press conference held after its closure in the following manner, “I have to praise our opponents because they have been pressuring us not only tonight but also in all
our previous matches. I am happy because this time we showed that we are a great team and not only a group made up by stellar individuals.”
On the other hand, the head coach of the losing side, Alberto Giuliani, expressed himself by giving the following comments, “TRENTINO deserved this win and the pass for the final four because they set the tempo of the game right from the start.”
The first set of the match started off with both the teams coming out strong against each other but before long, the Italians were able to assert their superiority and bag the opening set at 25-18. The guests were able to rally themselves together in order
to step up their game in the second set and got the advantage at the beginning.
However, the home team did not let the guests get away with the lead and bagged themselves the second frame as well at 25-22. The third set followed the same pattern as the previous one with the as the guests put in a spurt of speed at the beginning but
eventually were left behind as the home side moved past to secure the third set 25-21.
The player that earned himself the title of being called the Most Valuable Player was Osmany Juantorena from the Italian side as he was able to put up a total of 17 points for his team.
