Lubitel 2 cocking shutter?

Question

when i depress the lever to c**k the shutters, they open. (not when i press the shutter release) wouldnt that let light in and wreck the picture before i press the button to release the shutters? or is this normal?

Is the camera set to bulb? When the camera is set to bulb, the shutters will remain open when the shutter is advanced.
