in exchange for Matt Greene and Jaret Stoll.

that's crazy!

what are the kings doing? first getting rid of Cammy then one of their top D men.

they are making a HUGE mistake.. i mean they could have traded him to the leafs, i think we still have our 7th rounder for 2009 kicking around.

  1. I like this move for both sides. Visnovsky is still a good offensive Dman, but it looks like the Kings want to get a little tougher on the back-end and Lubo is pretty soft, a young banger like Greene will definitely help them out. Plus in a rebuilding stage, Greene will likely be more valuable in the long-run.  Stoll makes them deeper, and hes a pretty decent defensive forward.

Kings get rid of Visnovsky opening up a slot for Brad Stuart who will not resign with the Wings.

  2. I'm not really sure -- but as an Oiler fan I'm not really complaining.

It's obvious they are gearing up for a HUGE day come July 1st. Just under 34 million to spend with only RFAs, O'Sullivan, Stoll, Greene and Nagy to sign (if they decide to sign Nagy).

I see the Kings offering Emery (unless they are putting their faith in Bernier) , Campbell and possibly Hossa or Jagr.

  3. Oilers win big.  Visnovsky was 17th in points by defensemen...Greene got ONE point.  True he only played half the games that regular season, but ONE point?!?  And Stoll is a decent center.  Not amazing.

  4. Oilers win big and not just because I'm a hardcore Oiler fan.

    Look at it this way:

    All Star D-Man for

    A 3rd Line Center, and a 5-6 D-man

Stoll had a really garbage season after that concussion. Could be what LA needs, because he's a complete player. With his "A" game can be a 2nd line center, but most likely his role is 3rd line center.

Greene, yeah, he's tough, but not going to give you more than 10 points a season. Could turn out to be a decent, stay at home d-man, but nothing special. Has real character though, his interviews show it.

Visnovsky can certainly help the PP for Oilers. He'll rack up points on an even better team now. Edmonton arguably has the best defense core in the league. Souray, Gilbert, Grebeshkov, Staios, Smid, now Visnovsky. Pretty decent. The one thing that worries me is his last couple years of his cap hit of 5.6 million. He will be about 36.

Oilers got best player in the trade, but maybe LA filled some holes.

  5. If it was Vishnevski or however you spell his name, that's a good deal. Greene's going to be very good in the league, and I think the Oilers just wanted to get rid of Stoll for pulling a lazy-Tucker all season. Or maybe it's just for cap reasons, now that I think about it.

  6. It is in keeping with the Kings' stated plan of going with younger players. Plus it looks like a salary dump.  Gives Edmonton a nice blueline on the power play if Souray comes back healthy.
