Luca Brecel believes he can be future champion: 2012World Snooker Championship – Snooker News
Playing in World Snooker Championship at the Crucible Theatre is a dream of every potter and there are a few lucky ones who have got that chance in their teenage years. Belgium’s Luca Brecel is one of those lucky youngsters who earned their Crucible place
at such a very young age. The youngster is just 17 years old and is making his debut entry in the 2012 World Snooker Championship.
Brecel played outstandingly in the qualifying session of the 2012 World Snooker Championship and was able to book his place in the televised stages of the mega event after beating Ian McCulloch 10-2, Barry Pinches 10-3, Michael Holt 10-9 and Mark King by
the score line of 10-9. The youngster is now aiming to play the same way in the Championship. He believes that one day he will be the World Snooker Champion.
While speaking to the media, Brecel said, “The bigger the occasion, the better I seem to handle it. They've put their life into my career. I give massive consideration to my parents for their help – all the time they've spent to bring me to the UK for qualifiers
and all their financial investment, as well. I believe I can be a future world champion.”
Brecel’s coach, Henry is also happy with Brecel’s performance in the event and has complete confidence in his abilities. Henry also coached the former World Snooker Champion, Peter Ebdon. Recently he is working with the former seven-time World Snooker Champion
Scotland’s Stephen Hendry.
While talking about Brecel, Henry commented, “I've been working with Luca on and off for six or seven years. He loves the big crowds. His temperament for snooker is perfect. I first saw him when he was 10. You could tell immediately he had something very
special. He just shone. He just stood out." that has proved to be the case.”
Brecel is up against the Scotsman, Stephen Maguire in the opening round of the tournament. The snooker world is expecting fireworks from this match because Brecel has come a long way to live his dream and he will give his best to beat Maguire, which seems
difficult to accomplish because Maguire is in good shape currently.
