Luca Cumani’s Ibicenco to compete in the JLT Aston Park Stakes at Newbury
Ibicenco, the German runner, will be competing in the JLT Aston Park Stakes, which is scheduled to take place at Newbury on 19th May, 2012.
Trainer Luca Cumani took him under his wing on 23rd April, 2012, from trainer H. Herschberger.
The four-year-old colt has competed in seven starts, and this will be his eighth opportunity to demonstrate his ability.
Cumani told the press that:
"We're happy with what he has shown us at home," he also added that: "We don't know him that well as he only joined us in the winter, so at this stage I think it's quite difficult to gauge quite how good he is. He seems to be training well and he
has done everything we have asked him to do."
The son of Shirocco, out of mare Iberi, succeeded in the Preis von Atermann, König & Pavenstedt at Bremen on 22nd April, 2012, where he managed to defeat, Sundream, by 1 ¼ lengths.
The trainer is not sure about where the runner will compete next, but chances are that he might aim for the Melbourne Cup. It is a distant opportunity but it might happen.
Nehaam and Hawaafez will be running for owner Hamdan Al Maktoum in this race. Nehaam is trained by John Gosden, whereas Hawaafez is under the training of Marcus Tregoning.
Hawaafez, daughter of Nayef, out of mare Merayaat, seems to have the better chances of winning, as she emerged victorious from the E B F "Archipenko" Fillies' Handicap at Newmarket on 28th October, 2011, where she defeated the
Andrew Balding trained, Moment Of Time, by an immense margin of 7 lengths.
The four-year-old filly did justice to her status as race favourite, as she competed with a chance of 7 to 2 and managed to succeed.
Tregoning believes that she is in good form as she ended her previous season on a particularly “good note.”
He stated that this is a grade higher than her usual races so he doesn’t know how she will compete here, but he is definitely hoping for the best.
