Luca Marin secures Men’s 400m IM gold: Day two - 2012 Sette Colli Meet, Italy
Luca Marin of Italy secured gold medal of the Men’s 400m Individual Medley (IM) on day two of the 2012 Sette Colli Meet in Rome, Italy on Friday, June 15.
Marin faced tough battle from Kosuke Hagino of Japan throughout the event but with his unrelenting efforts, he managed to outsmart him over the finishing end for gold medal.
He continued his nerve wrecking form throughout the discipline and transpired on the finishing end with the timing of 4 minutes and 12.04 seconds for gold medal.
The champion remained 0.42 seconds slower from Hagino, who made his way to the finishing end for second position by submitting a time of 4 minutes and 12.46 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Federico Turrini of Italy, who stayed nearly four seconds apart and proved his mettle for bronze medal of the event by clocking a time of 4 minutes and 16.18 seconds.
Fourth position of the discipline was secured by South African veteran swimmer, Chad Le Clos, who stayed 0.48 seconds apart and cruised his way towards the finishing end with the timing of 4 minutes and 16.66 seconds.
Le Clos was followed by Thiago Pereira of Brazil, who stayed only 0.03 seconds behind and earned fifth position of the discipline by clocking a time of 4 minutes and 16.69 seconds.
Sixth fastest spot of the event was obtained by Chris Christensen of Denmark, who stayed almost eight seconds behind and transpired on the finishing end with an effort of 4 minutes and 24.77 seconds.
Christensen was chased by Claudio Fossi of Italy, who was almost four seconds apart and secured seventh position of the event by submitting a time of 4 minutes and 28.63 seconds.
The Italian swimmer remained almost five seconds faster from his team-member, Lorenzo Tarocchi, who failed to make a significant improvement in his pace and finished eighth in the event with an effort of 4 minutes and 33.31 seconds.
The session came to an end after the conclusion of all planned events while the position holders received medals and accolades for their notable efforts after the session.
