Luca di Montezemolo: Upcoming race weekends are ‘crucial’ for Ferrari – Formula 1 news
Formula 1 team Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has said that the next race weekends of 2011 season will be crucial for the team, as they are hoping of fighting for the world championship title this year.
The Maranello-based outfit is still busy, struggling for its more upbeat results of this season. For the season’s next race, Ferrari made more improvements in their 2011 machine for the better qualifying pace, as well as they are trying to get the reason
of why their ‘150° Italia’ car updates have not delivered the increase in downforce as was expected.
Ferrari president wished his driver, Felipe Massa on his 30th birthday on April 25, 2011 and said, “It's a special day for you and also for all of us: you have been part of our family for ten years now and I know that you now live and breathe
Ferrari. Your talent and your good nature mean that each and every one of us appreciates you as a driver, but even more so as a person.”
On the other hand, Ferrari principal Stefano Domenicali added, “We have known one another for such a long time and we have shared great moments together as well as some dramatic times and through them all, we have always been united, which is what makes
our relationship special.”
The team driver, Fernando Alonso is hopeful for a good job at the Turkish Grand Prix. Alonso says they are yet to show their true pace, despite of their difficult start in the 2011 season.
Ferrari seemed quite strong in the winter testing but it could not manage its positive start in the season. Their car has not been as reliable as expected during the races. In the Chinese Grand Prix, Alonso put his team on the seventh spot, but the squad
was happy with the run of both of their drivers, as team considers that they tried their level best.
Despite of his poor race in Shanghai, the two-time world champion is still looking forward for a podium position in the remaining races of the season.
On the other hand, his teammate Felipe Massa assured that Ferrari only to qualify better if they are willing to achieve a pole place in the remaining races of this season.
All teams have gathered at the venue, however it will be interesting to see how Ferrari manage their best run among the top runners of Formula 1 in Turkish Grand Prix, taking place on May 8, 2011.
