Luca di Montezemolo hoping for even better results from Ferrari – Formula 1 news
Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has said that he is hoping for even better results from his team as they have already proved that they can score podiums and race wins in the ongoing 2011 Formula 1 season.
Fernando Alonso gave the team its first victory at the British Grand Prix and since then, he has secured a 2nd place finish at the German Grand Prix followed by a 3rd place finish at last weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix.
As a result, di Montezemolo now believes that the team can score even more wins before the end of the 2011 Formula 1 season and he urged the team to improve its performance even more.
“I can see the right spirit in the team after a very difficult start to the season. Domenicali and his crew seem very determined, concentrating fully on their tasks for the second part of the year which I am sure will feature Ferrari in the role of a key
player. I expect we will pick up wins to add to the important and historically very significant victory achieved at Silverstone,” he told the media.
Alonso’s improvement has given the team some sort of hope that they even have a shot at the drivers’ title despite the fact that the Spaniard is around 90 points short of the championship leader Sebastian Vettel.
However if we look at it from Ferrari’s point of view, they can still win the drivers’ title if Vettel retires out of at least two races this season. Since Alonso is scoring some pretty good results since the British Grand Prix, he has proved that the team
is capable of challenging Red Bull Racing at all kinds of circuits.
Ferrari have revealed that they are going to introduce even more upgrades to their current car and they are aiming for the best possible results at each venue.
There is a month-long break before the upcoming race which is expected to take place in Belgium as a result of which, all of the teams are going to introduce some upgrades to their cars and hopefully make a difference in their current pace.
