Luca di Montezemolo insists Ferrari must adopt more creative approach for 2013 – Formula 1 news
Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has said that they need to adopt more creative approach for the 2013 Formula 1 season so as to attain better results as compared to this year.
The Scarlet team faced immense difficulties during the pre-season testing programme this year and failed to create full understanding about the design of F2012. Additionally, the technical director of Ferrari, Pat Fry completely dismissed the chances of
a podium finish in the season opener and asserted that they may struggle in the first few grands prix.
Even so, their driver, Fernando Alonso performed inspiringly well and tremendously limited the damage for his team. He scored points with impressive consistency and even led the drivers’ championship for quite a long time.
However, he faced retirements in two races due to which he lost his lead in the championship battle. Although, he fought really hard until the very end of the season, but he lost the title to Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing who seemed unbeatable in the
last few races with the fastest car in the field.
The Spaniard lost the championship battle by only 3 points to Vettel because of his uncompetitive car. Therefore, Montezemolo has insisted that they earnestly need to change their approach towards the development of their next year’s car and must be more
creative regarding its design.
Besides, the Italian said that they need to maximise their strengths in the coming season and must have a better development plan.
“We will need to try and push the technical regulations to the very limit,” Montezemolo said, “while maintaining our strong points from this year, or improving them still further, because the others will not be twiddling their thumbs, but not by almost brushing
against illegality, as happened in 2009 with the double diffuser.”
“However we need to adopt a different, more creative approach,” he added.
The competition is going to be very tough in the next season as all the contenders are making some remarkable preparations. Let’s see how Italian squad compete with their main rivals in the coming year and whether they will be able to win the championship
