Luca di Montezemolo insists Ferrari must revamp their organisation for 2013 – Formula 1 news
Ferrari president, Luca di Montezemolo has said that they need to work hard during winter to come up with a more competitive car in the 2013 Formula 1 season.
The Scarlet team failed to develop a competent car as compared to its main contenders and struggled during the whole pre-season testing programme this year. Moreover, their technical director, Pat Fry even ruled out the probability of securing a podium in
the season opener and expected to face issues in the opening few races.
However, their driver, Fernando Alonso performed marvellously even with an uncompetitive car and kept on scoring promising points for his team throughout the season.
Even though, the Spaniard tried his best to minimise the damage for his team and to win the championship title, but he lost it just by three points to Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing who had the fastest car in the field during the last few races.
Nevertheless, the Italian team is not feeling upset and is positively looking forward to perform well in the coming year.
Meanwhile, Montezemolo has also advised his team to push harder so as to develop a more competent car for the next season in order to take a good start.
"Now is the time to look ahead to next year," Montezemolo said. "I want us to start with a car that is immediately capable of fighting for the win and it has to be our first task. In order to achieve that, each one of us must improve in our own roles by
at least a millimetre. We must revamp our organisation and our working methods to try and be at the same level as the best, right from the first race, which for too many years now we have failed to do."
Although, Ferrari struggled during the first few races, nonetheless, they made some considerable progress after the Mugello test and secured second position in this year’s constructors’ championship after attaining promising results in the last few grands
prix.
It will be interesting to see whether they attain their target of developing a competitive car for the next year or not.
