Luca di Montezemolo plans to remain Ferrari president – Formula 1 news
Ferrari president, Luca di Montezemolo has said that he will remain the in charge of his team even if he goes for a seat in the Italian parliament in the future.
Montezemolo is currently supporting the Italian prime minister, Mario Monti, to secure another term in the office. Although, he has not made any clear plans until now, however, he has expressed his inclination towards joining politics in the near future.
Even though, he admitted that it would be very difficult for him to keep both the roles if he chooses to go to politics, but he insisted that he will manage. Besides, he said that the Scarlet team will always be his first priority.
“I did it when I was President of Fiat and (Italian employers' federation) Confindustria,” he said. “The first three tears were really hard, I don't know how I did it. But I managed to. For me, Ferrari remains fundamental.”
It will be important to note that the Italian team struggled a lot during the start of the season with the design of F2012. Nevertheless, Fernando Alonso tremendously limited the damage for his team and scored points with admirable consistency.
Though, the Spaniard fought really well until the very end of the season, but unfortunately he could not win the title and lost it to Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing by only 3 points.
After such a disappointing end to this season, Montezemolo has asserted that they must make some considerable changes in their developmental process in order to make a strong come back in the next season.
Besides, he said that they need to be more creative in their approach for the next season and should be aggressive towards the development of their coming year’s car.
“There is the regret that we lost the title in the last race,” Montezemolo said. “That we let slip an advantage that was over 50 points in August. However, the biggest regret is we did not have car that was quick enough to win title. So now we have to interpret
rules in a more aggressive and extreme manner. We have to be less conservative.”
