Luca di Montezemolo says Ferrari happy with Felipe Massa’s progress in 2011 season – Formula 1 news
Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has said that the team is quite happy with their driver Felipe Massa’s progress in the 2011 Formula 1 season.
He also said that he is performing very well for them, especially since the last couple of races of the ongoing season.
Di Montezemolo said, “I am also very happy this year with Felipe, who is reacting very well. We are pleased with our drivers; we need to improve the car to get Ferrari back where we want to be.”
The Brazilian had a very disappointing start to the season, as he was unable to show a strong performance on the grid among the strong contenders of Formula 1.
However, he seems to be performing very well from the last couple of races. In the recently held European Grand Prix, he took a positive start as he completed his Friday Free Practice sessions at the Valencia Street Circuit on a decent note.
He started his European race from the fifth place on the starting grid and ended up at the same place. His progress during the Valencia race weekend has really impressed the Maranello-based outfit and now they are expecting a podium finish from Massa in
the upcoming race weekends.
Apart from that, the team president appreciated the wonderful performance of Fernando Alonso, who managed his Valencia Grand Prix on the podium for them following a disappointing start to the season.
Di Montezemolo added about Alonso, “I am very happy to have signed a contract with him for a long cooperation, as we had with Michael Schumacher in his time. The fact that we will be together at least until 2016 is confirmation that both parties are happy
with this relationship.”
He admitted that Ferrari are happy as well as satisfied with their current drivers’ line-up. The team is busy working on their car and making it perfect for a better show in the upcoming Silverstone race, which will kick off from July 10, 2011.
Let’s see how the Ferrari drivers perform over there after a successful race weekend in Europe.
