Luca di Montezemolo says he doesn’t care about rivals’ criticism – Formula 1 news
Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has said that he doesn’t care what others say about their decisions and insisted that they are very clear about their policies.
The Scarlet team has a policy that they will not take two world class drivers at the same time on which Montezemolo has been very open. However, recently they have faced a lot of criticism over this kind of decision making.
Furthermore, the Italian squad has faced immense criticism over their unofficial appeal which they made to FIA so as to get the required explanations regarding Sebastian Vettel’s overtake in the season finale held at Interlagos in Brazil.
However, the Italian has dismissed all the ongoing criticism and has asserted that they don’t interfere in the matters of any other contender.
Besides, he said that they completely accepted the response of FIA concerning Vettel’s pass and they respect the decision of the Federation.
“[Not talking about the other teams] was one of the things I learned from Enzo Ferrari,” the Italian revealed, “In Brazil, we only asked for clarification, and accepted the response of the FIA, but that's not able to be clean and honest.”
In addition, he said that their drivers drive for their team. Furthermore, he said that if one driver needs the help of the other to win, the latter helps the former by performing the supporting role. He also said that whoever disagrees with their philosophy,
he is not bothered by that.
“Since I returned to Ferrari in 1991, I have always said that the drivers did not run for themselves, but for Ferrari,” he pointed out, “Where one can win, the other must help. Whoever does not like it, I do not care. Others are critical, but they do the
same, albeit though less transparent means.”
Additionally, he said that their aim is to provide their drivers, Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa, competitive cars for the next season so that they may be able to perform well right from the start.
He added that they are not feeling upset over the result of this season and will hopefully hit back in the next year.
