Lucas Di Grassi embraces his old team at GP3
Lucas Di Grassi, the Brazilian Formula One driver for Virgin Racing has bought a stake in the GP3 arm of Addax team.
Earlier, Di Grassi had driven for the Addax GP2 team in 2008 and that year proved lucky for the team as they were able to win the Constructors' Title then with the help of sheer hard work and devotion. The racer seems happy on once again being closer to his old team since they had a great time together in the past and had achieved some important objectives while being side by side.
Di Grassi, in an interview, said that he came back to offer his services to GP3. "I'm looking forward to work on the project which is a genuine platform for young drivers. I will try to help them with technical and tactical preparations, giving information regarding circuits, race strategies etc.” He further added, “The idea behind GP3 is to help young talent make progress and prepare them for future motor-racing. I believe GP3 is the future of junior formula as it precedes GP2 and it should get stronger each year."
Meanwhile, Alejandro Agag, the team owner welcomed the Formula One racer terming him a ‘great input to the team’. He stated that the driver’s older days with GP2 had been great ones while the team had always stayed close to him even after he had left. Agag concluded by saying that Di Grassi is a young driver who has proved to be capable of standing among the best men in the sport. His experience and professional way of working will surely be an important contribution towards the teams’ success.
On the other hand, Red Bull driver Mark Webber is also taking part in the GP3 while some other Formula One names are also in close collaboration with the series.
