Lucas Glover wins the Wells Fargo Championship

Lucas Glover smashed a score of 3-under-par, 69 in the final round of the $6.5-million Professional Golf Association (PGA) Wells Fargo Championship, to lift his third trophy on the tour. The tournament, which took place at the par-72
Quail Hallow Club, turned into a play-off match with Jonathan Byrd in opposition with a score of 72.
Glover teed off from the front and picked two birdies against a bogey at the par-4, fourth hole to seal the first half at 1-under-par. The 31-year-old walked towards the back in mere confusion, as he watched the rest of the field
sliding into danger.
The American took his position on the tenth tee and drove the ball over to the right side of the fairway bunker, which was an ideal location for an iron-play. The player took advantage of the edge and hammered a 3-iron to reach the
green. The ball stopped 20 feet away from the cup from where the American chipped for an eagle.
Celebrating the accomplishment, Glover marched towards rest of the holes, but could not emulate a similar performance. He dropped a shot at the 12th hole, made up for it and repeated the same action in the next holes.
Meanwhile, Byrd birdied four and bogeyed an equal number to settle at par. The player finished second in putting average, next to Glover. The duo walked towards the 18th tee and tested their luck on the challenging green.
Glover conquered it with a par, while Byrd ended up bogeying the hole.
When asked how he felt after the play-off loss, he responded, “Yeah, I mean, absolutely. I am never going to walk off a golf course after losing in a playoff. Obviously, I am a little disappointed just because you are here to win.
You love to compete, especially when you get in a playoff. You birdie the last; you feel like, hey, this is just going to work out.”
This is Byrd's third Top 3 finish in the current season.
