The Brazilian footballer has experienced any athlete’s worst nightmare for almost one year, remaining on the sidelines due to injuries.
Last season, he sustained a serious cruciate ligament injury during a Carling Cup match against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, which ruled him out from action for almost seven months.
After having made a return to the training in the summer and taken active part in the Reds pre-season campaign, the 25-year old did not have much to celebrate about his comeback, as he picked up a thigh injury in August during a league match against Manchester
City.
However, the midfielder recently made another return in a 1-0 win over Southampton, also featuring in Liverpool’s next two matches.
Lucas might not have displayed his best form in the last three matches, but he is only bound to improve as the season progresses, the midfielder claimed.
He revealed that he was working harder than ever to rediscover his best form, but for the time being, was not willing to get too ahead of himself.
“In terms of fitness, I'm very close to being 100% but it's just a question of time and games, to be honest,” he told the reporters during an interview.
“It's very hard to predict how long it will take to get back to my best but I can see an improvement every week, especially in the training sessions.”
Lucas was brought to Liverpool by former manager, Rafa Benitez, in July 2007 from Gremio. After getting his Anfield career off to a somewhat shaky start, the inventive schemer established his place as a regular in the team, becoming the mainstay of their
midfield.
It was the Brazilian’s injury last term which cost the Reds dearly, as his absence sent their campaign into a downward spiral, forcing them to settle for an abysmal eighth place.
The Anfield boss, Brendan Rodgers, is known to be huge admirer of the player. He had earlier unravelled that he plans on building his side around Lucas.
