Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva has backed the Reds summer signing Jordan Henderson to shine at Anfield in the ongoing 2011/12 Barclays Premier League season.
Henderson became Liverpool’s first signing of the recently concluded summer transfer window, when the Merseyside club paid a hefty sum to sign the English midfielder from Sunderland. The 21-year-old featured in all of Liverpool’s pre-season games and also
started in Liverpool’s Premier League opening-day fixture against his former club.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 under-21 international has played in almost every match for Liverpool this season, however, the midfielder is yet to make a name for himself at the Merseyside club.
Lucas is confident that Henderson will improve as the season wears on and has backed the former Sunderland midfielder to prove his worth. The Brazilian midfielder believes that the English midfielder has already proved himself in the Premier League, however,
the 21-year-old still needs some time to settle at Liverpool.
Lucas told http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809’s official website, “He is English and has already adapted to the Premier League. But to change your club and move to a big place like Liverpool is difficult.”
The Brazilian is happy to see Henderson being more involved and has insisted that the first team action will help the youngster increase his confidence.
"We just have to keep encouraging him and give him the confidence to keep improving As long as you are working hard every day, your opportunities will come. He will be ready to show his best form if we don't rush him and give him time to settle,” the Brazilian
added.
The Reds defensive midfielder believes Henderson has all the qualities to become a Kop legend and added, “We can see he has the attributes to be a good player but he is still very young and we just have to give him time and be patient.”
