days in terms of his form at Liverpool who a terrible cruciate ligament injury struck the Brazilian midfielder last season and kept him out for most of the campaign thereafter.
Kenny Dalglish had depended on the midfielder due to his tenacious tackling and his unending stamina for the Reds. However, now as the former Liverpool striker is not longer in-charge at Anfield Lucas has to earn the confidence
of the new manager Brendan Rodgers.
Rodgers was appointed Liverpool’s manager after the previous league season concluded. Liverpool did win the Carling Cup last season but Lucas hardly played a part in their triumph and now he is determined to make a comeback and
leave a lasting mark on the club.
Lucas said, "I think the hard times have been good for me because I learned a lot about myself I am very lucky to be here and even though I'm starting my sixth season at Liverpool, I still feel fresh and there is no reason for
me to think I can't get back to the same level again.”
He added, “I want to thank everyone by becoming the player I was before. I'd been really happy with the way I was playing. Two days before I got injured, I played against Manchester City at Anfield and it was one of the best games
that I've played for Liverpool.”
Lucas revealed that he was helped in his recovery from his ankle injury by the medical staff at Anfield as well as the players who were constantly supportive of him even when he wasn’t a part of the squad which was playing regularly
in the Premier League.
