Lucas Martin Matthysse: I have prepared well and will give a war to Humberto Soto – Boxing News
Lucas Martin Matthysse, the former WBO Latino light welterweight champion, in a recent media interaction commented that he did had great difficulties in taking on southpaws Zab Judah and Devon Alexander adding that this time he has prepared well and Humberto
Soto will definitely feel like he is in a war.
Martin, currently finalising his training camp and is going through last-minute formalities in order to leave Argentine for United States, further added that his career’s only two losses were against southpaw stance pugilists adding that those defeats have
motivated him substantially in order to prepare for this bout.
Lucas will take on most probably the toughest opponent of his career Humberto Soto in a 12-round bout which will headline the pay-per-view organised and promoted by Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions.
The bout will have the vacant WBC Continental Americas light welterweight title up for grabs and the Saturday night extravaganza will be headlined by the vacant WBC silver welterweight title bout between Victor Ortiz and Josesito Lopez.
Lucas recently shared his thoughts about the upcoming bout and his dismal tough experiences against southpaws. Martin, 29, has been in a total 33 bouts and is clearly overshadowed by Soto’s experience and other technical facets and stats.
The Argentinean proud is considered as a powerful knockout pounder who has collected 28 of his wins by knocking the opponents out cold. Lucas is currently on a two-bout win streak since his last loss to Devon Alexander and is seriously looking forward to
find a solution to tackle and counter the southpaw stance.
It must be noted that Lucas has lost just two bouts in his career and interestingly against those pugilists who followed a southpaw stance that is Devon and Zab Judah. It is this reason why Martin stated, “Yes, those were both very difficult fights to have
to adjust to them and change the way I fight. I know I won both those fights. Deep in my heart, I know it. It did hurt me, but we’ve got to come back stronger and I know we are ready for bigger and better things. With Humberto, we all know he’s going to come
to fight. He wants to come to battle and that makes me very happy because we are ready to give him a war.”
The bout will be a difficult test for Lucas as Soto is entering the ring with an experience of 68 bouts and 58 wins. If Lucas demolishes this obstacle he will definitely move up in the rankings and will most probably again become a part of the world champion
title contention scenario.
