Lucas Neill wants to be a part of any top European club and play the 2014 FIFA World Cup
Former West Ham United player, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lucas-c22528 Neill, has desired to be a part of the Australian squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. He reckoned that there is plenty of football left in him and wanted to serve any top European side after being released by the Turkish
outfit, Galatasaray. Neill was talking ahead of his team’s friendly fixture against Serbia which is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, June 7.
The veteran Aussie defender was of the view that the Socceroos are on their way up and this is what the entire nation has been waiting for a long time. He believes that even at 33 years of age, he could still do wonders playing for his country or any club.
Neill added that he wants to prove his critics wrong, who believe that his legs do not allow him to be as quick as he used to be.
The 33-year-old reckoned that his age is not a factor at all and he could still be as quick as an 18-year-old. Neill was amongst one of the top performing Aussies in Europe during the last season in spite of the fact that his club did not have a successful
time in the League. The veteran, though, was considered one of the shining stars for Galatasaray. He was unfortunate for not getting the kind of support he wanted, and richly deserved.
The centre-back joined the Lions in 2010 and managed 37 appearances. He also had a solitary goal to show from those games. Neill has previously played for a few English clubs like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385, West Ham United and Millwall. The defender now
wants to be a part of any top tier English side that would give him the opportunity to prove himself in front of his national officials.
Neill is currently on duty with the Socceroos and will feature in their game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Serbia-c3002 on Tuesday. He told that all his attention is towards that Aussie game and urged his side to start from where they left off against New Zealand.
He concluded by saying, “I am there or thereabouts but I'm here with Australia now so this week has been purely focused on that and trying to get my fitness to where it was.”
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/New-Zealand-c754 by a 3-0 margin in their previous game played on Sunday, June 5, at Adelaide.
