Lucas Oil to sponsor AMA Pro Motocross Championship for another three years
Lucas Oil has renewed its commitment with American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) Pro Motocross Championship for another three years.
The extension in the association between Lucas Oil and AMA Pro Motocross Championship was revealed in an announcement made by Motocross (MX) Sports Pro Racing and Alli Sports on Monday, March 5.
With the new multi-year contract, Lucas Oil will surpass Toyota, Chevy Trucks and Mazda in terms of sponsoring the title in the sport’s history.
“The decision to renew our commitment to the Pro Motocross Championship was fairly easy to make,” said Lucas Oil Executive Vice President Bob Patison. “Lucas Oil has seen significant growth in its motorcycle product category over the last three years, and
we believe the nationals have played an important role in fuelling this growth. MX Sports Pro Racing and Alli Sports have proven to be good marketing partners and we look forward to continuing on with this relationship.”
The president of MX Sports Pro Racing Davey Coombs conceded that Lucas Oil’s support for the championship had not only contributed to the progression of motocross but also acted as an encouragement for the athletes and their teams. Even with America facing
tough economic conditions in the last few years, motocross continued to grow due to the valuable support of its AMA Pro Motocross Championship sponsor, which is sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing.
The 2012 season of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship is scheduled to kick-off from May 19. The series will make its first stop in Sacramento, California on May 19 for the Hangtown Motocross Classic. The series, which will comprise of 12 stops spanning
over 17 weeks, will be heading to Lake Elsinore in California for its final stop, Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park, on September 8.
Traditionally, the Pala Raceway round served as the final stop of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship. However, the Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park event will be replacing it this year. The site had served as a practice and training ground for both professional
and amateur riders for decades before closing down a couple of years ago.
Track Builder Marc Peters has redesigned the park, adding new features and making the site more convenient for the fans.
