Liverpool midfielder, Lucas Leiva believes that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jonjo-Shelvey-c19081 has got what it takes to become a regular member of the team this coming season, but admitted that the 20-year old will need to capitalize on any chance that comes his way.
The English International joined the Merseyside outfit in May 2010 for an estimated 1.7 million pounds transfer fee from Charlton Athletic. Since then, he has gone on to make 37 appearances for the Reds and scored 2 goals during this period.
During the early part of the preceding season, the understudy midfielder was sent out on loan to Blackpool. He was an instant success at the Bloomfield Road, notching up 6 goals in just 10 caps. in November, he was called back to Anfield by then Reds manager, Kenny Dalglish.
After having received a fair bit of exposure last term, Lucas believed that Shelvey was prepared to take the central stage for his team in the upcoming season, and felt that he will prove to be a valuable asset for the Reds in the long run.
However, the Brazilian International advised the juvenile player of keeping his patience, and to make the most out of any opportunity which falls in his way.
He told the reporters in an interview, “He has been very impressive in pre-season and I am looking forward to helping him when he wants me to. Hopefully he will be a great addition this season. My advice to him would be just to keep working hard and when
he gets a chance, to try and take it.”
Earlier, Shelvey signed a long term extension in his contract with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 on the 10th of July.
Nonetheless http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lucas-c22528, who has made a return to team after a prolonged seven-month absence due to injury, let out his delight on being back at the training sessions, and claimed that he has emerged out of his rehabilitation process as a much stronger player.
“I am very happy to be back and be able to play football again… an injury like I had just makes you stronger and maybe makes you change the way you think about a few things.”
