Liverpool midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lucas-c22528 Leiva, is confident that the Reds will flourish under the management of Brendan Rodgers in the coming years, and will soon compete for top honours.
The Brazilian International, who is currently nursing a thigh injury, was of the opinion that extensions signed by some of the senior players in their contracts will serve as a stability factor, and that they possessed enough firepower to even go on and
win the Champions League over the next five years.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 have been a club in decline over the last couple of years. Their abysmal eighth-place finish in the prevenient term means that they have now failed to qualify for the elite European event for three successive seasons.
The gloomy state of affairs at Anfield forced the club into handing over the management to Brendan Rodgers in June, who has been tasked to reinvigorate and revive the Reds dominance in English football.
Keeping in view the strength of their squad and the calibre of their manager, the 25-year old insisted that there was no reason why they could not rediscover their lost glory.
The midfielder said that Liverpool are a club who have met stupendous success in the past and he had no qualms that they will soon be on the top of things again.
“In five years, I just hope we can be winning the league and maybe the Champions League. Why not? We have to believe that. This club has already showed many people what we're capable of doing. Why can we not get back?,” he told the club’s official website.
Luis Suarez, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Agger-c9884 and Martin Skrtel have all penned long term extensions in their contracts during the summer. The trio forms a crucial part of the team and has been associated with multiple rumours of their possible exodus from Anfield.
Lucas claimed that the extension that they have signed was an indication that they too believed that good things were just around the corner for the team.
“I don't think anybody would want to stay at a club they really don't believe can win anything, especially foreign players,” he added.
The inventive schemer then went on to express his disappointment over being on the sidelines due to an injury, and was desperate to make a return to the squad as soon as possible.
