Lucas delighted with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809’s 1-1 draw against Manchester City – EPL News
Liverpool midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lucas-c22528 Leiva, has expressed delight over the Reds’ performance in the recent 1-1 draw against current Barclays Premier League leaders, Manchester City, at Anfield.
The Merseyside club locked horns with the only unbeaten team in the Premier League, Manchester City, for the 13th fixture of the ongoing season.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vincent-Kompany-c36184 opened the scoring through a headed goal from a corner, but Charlie Adam equalised minutes later as the Scottish midfielder’s long range effort levelled the score. Liverpool tried to clinch all three points after Manchester City were reduced
to 10 men; however, a string of fine saves from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joe-Hart-c18699 ended the tie as a 1-1 draw.
Lucas hailed his team’s effort and said:
"I think we tried to play the same way as we did last week against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786. We had a lot of possession and the counter attack is always very dangerous, so we tried to pressure and keep the ball and create chances. I think we deserved to win but a draw is
not a bad result."
Lucas also commented on Liverpool’s under-fire striker, Andy Carroll. The English striker, who joined the Reds from Newcastle United in a mega million deal, has failed to make a name of himself at the Merseyside club.
The 22-year-old has failed to cement his place in Kenny Dalglish’s starting eleven in the ongoing season. Most recently, Carroll was called on to replace http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dirk-Kuyt-c11348 in the last minutes of the match against Manchester City.
The former Newcastle United attacker made an immediate impact on the game and nearly scored a winner for Liverpool, but Joe Hart denied him with a spectacular save.
Lucas has revealed that Carroll is working very hard to regain his goal-scoring form and added:
"Andy is working really hard in the training ground, he had ten minutes to try and change the game. But unfortunately Hart did a very good save and he couldn’t score, but he is working really hard and we hope he will score for us."
Andy Carroll has scored three goals in 11 appearances in all competitions this season. The English international is expected to start Liverpool’s upcoming Carling Cup tie against Chelsea.
