Liverpool midfielder, Lucas Leiva has revealed his excitement upon making a return to the team, and was confident of making an immediate impact, following words of encouragement from his manager, Brendan Rodgers.
The Brazilian International last featured in a competitive game for the Merseyside club, in a Carling Cup fixture against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in November. He suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury during the game, which forced him out of action for the remainder
of the season.
Even though the midfielder’s return to the team was ruled out by his doctors for at least nine months since the time of his injury, he made a speedy seven-month recovery and featured in the Reds pre-season friendly games.
Earlier, the Anfield boss, Rodgers had already stressed the importance of the player in his future plans for Liverpool, and unearthed that he will look to build the team around him.
Talking of his return to the team, Lucas indicated that he was wary of the fact that he was lagging behind his team-mates in terms of preparation. However, he stated that his confidence had boosted after having a chat with Rodgers, who assured him of his
participation this coming season.
While talking to reporters, he said: “On my first day back in Liverpool, he [Rodgers] spoke with me and said I was in his plans…Those words helped me to relax a little bit more. It gave me the confidence to progress slowly and I am really happy to have his
support from the beginning.”

He said that he was looking forward to playing his part in the next season.
Since his arrival at Anfield almost five years ago from Gremio, the Brazilian footballer has remained the linchpin of the Reds midfield. One of the major reasons attributed to the Merseyside outfit’s catastrophic previous term was his prolonged absence from
the team.

He added, “Of course, there is still a lot of work to be done, but I am looking forward to getting my confidence back and being 100 per cent as soon as possible.”
