Lucayan likely to seal success in Palace Stakes
Lucayan looks to be in the most favourable position to seal a sterling success in the St James’ s Palace Stakes (British Champions Series) (Group 1) (Entire Colts) contest that will take place at Ascot racecourse today, June 19. The action is scheduled to
start at 3:45 (GMT).
On the good to soft track of 1 mile, the F. Rohaut-trained bay colt will have to face 15 strong rivals with Power and Cogito at the top. The high-class race contains £167,295 in the prize purse.
Lucayan has never stepped out of the podium so far since debuting in December 2011. The three-year-old novice runner has won 3 of his total 5 starts, proving his class on different tracks against a number of worthy competitors.
After winning his maiden race convincingly, the young and energetic colt finished as a runner-up in the two subsequent starts during March 2012.
The brilliant son of Turtle Bowl out of La Vltava moved ahead to bag a grand victory each on April 27 and May 13. Now, he is on the verge of his first hat-trick.
Throughout his career, except the first race, the talented colt has been running under Stephane Pasquier who is all ready to go for another tough adventure today.
Though Lucayan possesses all the personas to thrive but Power will surely give him tough time as the A. P. O’Brien-trained bay colt is carrying plenty of winning momentum.
The maverick colt has won 5 of his total 8 starts so far---an outstanding and impressive track record. After debuting in May 2011, the son of Oasis Dream out of Frappe elegantly finished first in each of his first three races.
Power nicely grabbed a classic conquest in his last outing on May 26, 2012. He will definitely impede Lucayan in the Stakes, and there is likely to be a stern scuffle between these two runners.
Cogito is too likely to do well today. The Brian Meehan-trained bay colt has won both the races of his career so far. He is also looking to complete his hat-trick by thriving in today’s contest.
Thus, an awe-inspiring clash will be witnessed at Ascot today. Let us see who comes up as the protagonist. Good luck to all the runners.
